Every year since 2004 women have gathered together for the Wise Woman Weekend.
It all began in the Sligo-Leitrim area, as the inspiration of Pauline Howard, and settled in the village of Dromahair for many years, at the time of the Celtic festival of Bealtaine in May.
WWW was held at St Angela's College in Sligo, and in Dromahair village in Co Leitrim, where a number of venues were used, including Ard Nahoo Eco Retreat, the local community hall, the mobile cinema office, local pubs and restaurants.
For 2013, the Vision Team decided to make the WWW an all-inclusive package, with meals and accommodation included in the ticket price. This brought to realisation a dream we had held for some time: to bring WWW to each of the provinces of Ireland.
In 2013 the WWW moved away from its origins in the North-West, and began a journey around the country. In 2013 we held WWW at Gurteen Agricultural College in Co. Tipperary. In 2014 we were welcomed by the monks at Glenstal Abbey, Co. Limerick. In 2015, we went to Maynooth University in Co Kildare. In 2016 we held the weekend at Gormanston Castle County Meath. in 2017 the weekend took place at Newgrange lodge County Meath in the magical landscape of the Boyne valley.
Wise Woman Weekend's journey comes to an end for the 2018 weekend, as we return to our roots and our birthplace Dromahair in County Leitrim
